34 stations on the DC Metro Silver Line Map operate over a distance of about 23 miles between Ashburn in Loudoun County, Virginia, and downtown Washingto,,n,, DC to downtown Largo and New Carrollton in Prince George’s County, Maryland. With the Silver Line, direct rail service to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is available at the Dulles Airport station, which began service in November, 2022 as Phase 2.
Opened in two stages, the Silver Line is the latest and longest addition to the Washington Metrorail network. Phase 1 was opened in July 2014, serving downtown DC to Tysons Corner and Wiehle-Reston East. On November 15, 2022, the Phase 2 commenced with six new stations and the extension of the line to the Dulles International Airport and Ashburn, the largest Metrorail extension since the system was inaugurated in 1976.
